EXPERT IN HUMAN PERFORMANCE · MENTAL TRAINING · QUEBEC

I don't teach performance.

I make it sustainable.

I've spent 35 years observing what chronic pressure does to the brain, to decision-making and to the leadership of high-performing women, and passing on what helps them hold steady, choose and shine, without wearing themselves out.

MANIFESTO

What I believe

Sustainable performance is a state you maintain, day after day.

Stress is a useful signal. What wears you down is not having the tools to decode it.

I work on your mechanisms: the concrete patterns that drive your reactions under stress.

Resilience comes from training, repeated and regular.

A woman who is superb under pressure knows how to come back to herself, at will.

MY JOURNEY IN 4 ANCHORS

35+ years of expertise under pressure

Professionally, it all started with a last-minute choice. My father gave me a taste for understanding people and the brain; I switched to occupational therapy instead of engineering, and I've never regretted it. A few years later, on a tatami, I learned the lesson that would become the foundation of my entire practice: understanding is not enough, it's repeated training that transforms reflexes.

For decades, I've supported people facing complex challenges with their internal patterns, their stress response and their automatic reactions under pressure. This work taught me one fundamental thing: ways of functioning have an extraordinary capacity to reconfigure themselves when you rely on the right principles.

My approach is deeply influenced by the training principles of martial arts and Qi Gong: intentional presence, internal stability, mastery of attention, the ability to act with precision under stress. These foundations support human performance, mental clarity and decision-making in demanding contexts.

performance lived before it was taught

Not a course taken. A discipline lived. Internal stability, precision under pressure, mastery of attention, learned in the body before being understood in the head. It's this difference, lived before being taught, that makes my approach recognizable.

Today

Performance Lucide™ for
women leaders

Applying this entire journey to a specific context: women leaders and entrepreneurs who perform under chronic pressure and want to reclaim their presence, their radiance and their grounding. It's the project of my professional life.

The story few people know

I first saw resilience up close. My father, faced with a serious diagnosis very early in my life, chose not to let himself be defined by what medicine told him. That lesson stayed engraved in me.

Later, in the middle of my busy life — young children, career, family — a disabling illness left me immobilized for almost two years. It called into question my identity, my ability to function, my very way of being.

I learned, concretely, not in theory, what it means to regulate without exhausting yourself further. To rebuild without forcing. To remain yourself when everything pushes you to disappear into a diagnosis.

“Resilience doesn't come from willpower. It comes from training. Everything I offer my clients, I went through first.”
I do this work because I know, with certainty, that it can be trained. I learned it from the inside, long before teaching it to anyone.

Today, a mother of two adult children and in a relationship for more than 40 years, I know this journey is not behind me. It has become the foundation of my vision, in my work and in my life.

MY APPROACH — PERFORMANCE LUCIDE™

Mental training: an approach grounded in science and embodied by 40 years of practice

I work on your internal mechanisms: the automatic patterns that take over under stress, before you've even had time to choose.

I started martial arts at age 10. I thought understanding a movement was enough to be able to reproduce it. But when it came time to spar, my body went back to its old reflexes. It was only by repeating, again and again, that the technique became reliable. Understanding is not enough. It's repeated training that transforms reflexes.

The principles of martial arts have been training these same capacities for centuries — presence, stability, mastery of attention — through observation and bodily practice, long before modern science described them through factor analysis.

Performance Lucide™:
My approach relies on two entry points to transformation: the 3Rs, which target your automatic reactions in real time, and cognitive availability, which strengthens the capacities that support them.

The 3Rs:
Recognize your dominant automatic reactions, without judging them. Replace the reflex that holds you back with a clearer choice. Repeat until that choice becomes, in turn, a reflex.

Cognitive availability:
5 trainable capacities: Full presence, Courage, Perspective, Compassion, Power.

It's this path, lived and refined in the field, that led me to Positive Intelligence®. Shirzad Chamine's method draws on behavioural science, performance science and the principles of neuroplasticity, applied to human performance. It also offers a structured learning framework and a way to measure your progress, so you can transform your mental capacities for the long term.

PILLAR 1
The 3 Rs

Recognize your automatic reactions,
Replace the reflex with a clear choice,
Repeat until it becomes the new reflex.

PILLAR 2
Cognitive availability

5 trainable access points: full presence, courage, perspective, compassion, power. The entry points to transformation. Concrete changes after 6 weeks.

PILLAR 3
Expertise that's embodied, not just taught

40 years of practicing martial arts and Qi Gong. Intentional presence, grounding, mastery of attention under stress. Lived before being taught.

WHY ME

Why do women choose me?

Because I don't offer them one more theory. I spent more than twenty years testing what really works (martial arts, functional rehabilitation, neuroscience) before finding the most structured framework to train these reflexes. And because before teaching them to recognize, replace and repeat, I integrated it into my own practice.

MENTAL TRAINING

What is mental training?

Developing, through a short daily practice, the ability to stay clear-headed, steady and available under pressure — the way an athlete trains their reflexes.

“What most people learn to run from, I teach you to read. Stress is first and foremost a signal — information your system is sending you. Very often, it's even what gives you the drive to act. What's exhausting is enduring it without knowing how to decode it.”

“I work on your internal mechanisms — the automatic reactions that take over under stress, before your clarity has time to step in. Three steps: recognize them. Replace them. Repeat, until the new reflex takes hold. That's mental training.”

Coaching and mental training: two complementary approaches

Criteria Coaching Mental training ·
performance lucide™
What we work on Often a specific situation, goal or theme The automatic reactions that respond in our place, and the specific situations where they keep coming back
What guides the work Each coach's own method Training grounded in the principles of neuroscience: each tool is chosen based on how the brain and nervous system work. The backbone of the Performance Lucide™ approach: the 3Rs (recognize, replace, repeat)
The role of the body and nervous system Varies with each coach's approach At the heart of the practice: stress shows up in the body (tension, breathing, rhythm, attention). We spot these nervous-system signals early, then train to regain clarity.
Between sessions The actions agreed upon in session Short practices, built into activities already planned
Areas of application Depending on the specialty: career, leadership, personal life Performance under pressure, leadership, stress, resilience, relationships, self-confidence, productivity
Tracking progress Reaching the goals that were set Practice benchmarks, concrete observations in session and a quick self-assessment of cognitive availability
Tools Varied; many also use PCM or Positive Intelligence® Performance Lucide™ approach (3Rs, five supports, resistance to change), Positive Intelligence®, Process Communication Model® (PCM) and other complementary tools, depending on the situation
Formats Varies according to the agreement with the coach Individual and group Positive Intelligence® programs; single-session support with the Performance Lucide™ approach (one specific situation); in companies: Lunch-and-Learn or workshop
Core expertise Each coach's own background Clarity under pressure: 35 years in rehabilitation + 40 years of martial arts and Qi Gong
For whom, when You know what you want to move forward on The same reactions keep coming back, whatever the context
Together Coaching clarifies the direction. Mental training trains the nervous system to stay the course under pressure. You can do both in parallel.

MY CONVICTIONS ABOUT PERFORMANCE (5 theses)

5 convictions about the performance of women leaders

01

Sustainable performance depends far more on internal mechanisms than on discipline alone.
Discipline runs out. Mechanisms, once trained, work for you. That's why daily mental training — 15 minutes — produces more results than heroic resolutions.

02

Burnout is a state of occupational exhaustion that must be assessed by a health professional.
What we observe well before that breaking point are signs of cognitive overload: attention that becomes fragile, less fluid decision-making, faster or more impulsive reactions, a tendency to ruminate more. These signs are not a diagnosis; they simply indicate that your internal system is running beyond its optimal zone.

03

Hypersensitivity in women leaders isn't a flaw. It's an under-used sensor.
Well decoded, your hypersensitivity gives you access to signals your peers don't perceive — about your teams, your decisions, your market. Poorly decoded, it exhausts you. The challenge: learning to translate it rather than calm it.

04

Impostor syndrome is deactivated more by repeated training than by positive thinking alone.
Telling yourself “I can do this” isn't enough. The voice that resists speaks louder. Identifying the voice, naming it, observing it, choosing a different response: it's a protocol, not an affirmation. And it can be trained.

05

Presence is cultivated, the way an athlete cultivates their fitness.
Being “present” in a meeting, a pitch, a conflict, with your family: cognitive availability is a trainable capacity. Martial arts have known it for centuries. Behavioural science confirms it today.

WHO THIS WORK IS DESIGNED FOR

You may recognize yourself in one or more of these situations

  • You perform, but you feel something is playing out underneath, silently.
  • Chronic stress has set in gradually and you struggle to see where it ends.
  • You carry everything, and you carry it alone, even with a team around you.
  • You want to reclaim your presence, your radiance, your decision-making clarity — not just “cope”.
  • You are functional in English if your support includes the PQ® Program (Positive Intelligence theoretical material in English; the support itself is given in French).
  • You're ready to train 15 minutes a day — not to stop everything.

“Reclaim the superb woman you are — present, grounded, radiant under pressure.”

Out of mutual respect, here is what this program is not:

  • It's not therapy. If you're looking to explore your past in depth, a psychologist is a better choice.
  • It's not training to be consumed passively. Flexible, daily training is non-negotiable.
  • It's not a quick fix in a single session. Lasting results appear between week 4 and week 12.

FAQ “WHO IS LUCIE MONTPETIT”

Everything people ask me about my journey and my approach

Who is Lucie Montpetit?

Lucie Montpetit is a Quebec-based expert in human performance and
mental-training consultant, serving Greater Montreal and the Laurentians in person and the rest of Canada and Europe by videoconference. Since 2021, she has supported women leaders, managers and high-responsibility professionals through the Performance Lucide™ approach, built on 40 years of practice in the arts of self-mastery (martial arts and Qi Gong), complemented by the PQ® Positive Intelligence® program, used as designed.

What is Lucie Montpetit's training background?

Lucie is a PQ Coach™, trained in Positive Intelligence® following the teachings of Shirzad Chamine, New York Times best-selling author and creator of the Positive Intelligence® program. She holds a B.Sc.(OT) from McGill University and has 35 years of field experience in human performance in clinical settings, as well as 40 years of personal practice in martial arts and Qi Gong.

Where is Lucie Montpetit based?

Lucie is based in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec (Canada). She serves the Greater Montreal area as well as the rest of Quebec and French- and English-speaking Canada — most sessions take place by videoconference.

What's the difference between coaching and mental training?

Mental training, as Lucie practices it, addresses the automatic reactions that respond in our place. It's a good fit when the same reactions keep coming back, whatever the context. You learn to reduce the influence of your Saboteurs and to nurture your psychological needs. The body plays a central role: you learn to read the signals of stress in the nervous system. It relies on neuroplasticity: the brain changes through repetition. Micro-repetitions, slipped into activities already planned, add up to 10 to 15 minutes a day. Day after day, they create new reflexes. Because your mindset shifts continuously, not once a week in a session, the results last over time.

What is the Performance Lucide™ approach?

Performance Lucide™ is Lucie Montpetit's proprietary approach, born from 35 years in clinical settings and 40 years of sensorimotor practice (martial arts, Qi Gong, neurofunctional reorganization). Lucie integrates Shirzad Chamine's Positive Intelligence® program, applied as designed, sometimes as occasional support, sometimes as the main tool of the coaching. The work is done with ease, foundations first, with complexity added gradually according to each client's progress.

Who does Lucie Montpetit work with?

With women leaders, managers, entrepreneurs and high-responsibility professionals. Since 2021, Lucie has focused specifically on human performance coaching — after a 35-year career in functional rehabilitation with people under pressure. She also works with companies through Lunch-and-Learns for leadership committees and executive teams.

Is Lucie Montpetit's work a form of therapy?

No, this is not psychotherapy. Lucie's approach is results-oriented mental training, structured over 3 months, that works on current mechanisms rather than exploring the past. For therapeutic support, she recommends consulting a mental health professional.

Why does Lucie talk about “mental training”?

The term “mental training” conveys the idea that resilience, clarity and presence under pressure can be trained, the way an athlete trains their body or a musician their instrument. It's a structured, daily, measurable approach, designed for people who need to perform in real life.

How many years of experience does Lucie Montpetit have?

35 years of hands-on expertise with people facing challenges under pressure — and since 2021, specifically women leaders. Added to this are 40 years of personal practice in martial arts and Qi Gong, which directly inform her approach to presence and internal stability under stress.

How do you book a session with Lucie Montpetit?

Lucie offers a free 40-minute discovery session by videoconference, with no commitment. It's an opportunity to identify your situation, determine whether her approach is right for you, and choose the right format (individual coaching, corporate Lunch-and-Learn, or intensive group program). Booking is done directly on her website: Performancelucide.com

Why is mental training even more relevant in the age of AI?

Because your brain hasn't changed since the African savanna. It's still programmed to spot a lion, not to keep up with the pace of the transformations AI is imposing everywhere, at high speed. What will set you apart in this transition isn't your processing speed — AI will always win that race — but your presence, your discernment, your ability to stay grounded under pressure. These are exactly the capacities Performance Lucide™ trains.

Your clarity hasn't disappeared.
It's waiting to be found again.

In 40 minutes, we identify what's limiting your performance right now. No commitment. No pressure. Just an honest conversation.
